It would appear the weather in Washington changes just as fast as our taplist. Hopefully the warm weather will be back soon, but until then come on in and stay dry with pint of good beer. Wouldn’t be Seattle Beer Week without the rain, right?

Here’s the list of remaining events for Seattle Beer Week!

Monday the 13th (today) starting at 4:00pm, we will be hosting Steve Dresler, head brewer of Sierra Nevada Brewing. He will be here to answer your questions and enlighten you on the world of craft beer. We will have a couple special kegs on tap from them. Come on by!

Tuesday the 14th, we are hosting Widmer and Full Tilt for a match made in Heaven! We will have four unique flavors of Full Tilt ice cream and will be pairing them with four awesome beers from Widmer. Get four different beer floats (kids scoop and 3oz of beer) for only $5! The rep for Widmer will be here as well to talk beer for those interested.

Wednesday the 15th is the big daddy of our events. We are hosting an imperial stout tasting event. Starting when we open at 10am, we will have 12 different imperial stouts on tap, and will be offering sampler trays with four different 3oz pours for $8. We have a couple kegs on stand by when the first ones blow, so hopefully we will be able to offer these guys through the weekend! Our preliminary taplist looks like this:

Great Divide – Belgian Yeti
Great Divide – Oak Aged Yeti
Great Divide – Chocolate Yeti
Great Divide – Espresso Yeti
Southern Tier – Oat
Lost Abbey – Serpent’s Stout
Oskar Blues – Tenfiddy

Any of these are subject to change, but this should be our opening lineup.

Thursday is our Schmaltz brewing night. Starting at 5, we will have four beers on tap from them, and will be offering taster trays of them all. The representative will be there to answer questions as well.

Our food truck list for the week is as follows:

Monday night – Now Make Me a Sandwich
Tuesday night – Curb Jumper
Wednesday night – Streetzeria

Hi folks,

Now that Chuck’s has become such a popular destination, it’s time we had a talk about your kids and dogs in the shop. It has come to our attention that some of our customers have been made uncomfortable by the lack of control of both and we’d like to take this opportunity to lay out our shop policies.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are well-behaved and on a leash at all times. Dogs that are barking in the shop will be asked to step outside. Any dog not on a leash will be required to either be leashed or leave. This is for the safety of your dog, other dogs, our customers, and our staff.

Kids are always welcome in the shop, because after all, being a family place is what made Chuck’s what it is today. But, unsupervised children can cause a stressful and uncomfortable situation for both our customers and our staff. Children should be kept under the direct supervision of their parents at all times, both inside and outside the shop. This is for their safety, as there is a lot of commotion and it can be very crowded at times.

Thank you for your cooperation with these policies and we hope to see you in the shop soon.

Wednesday we will be warming up for Seattle Beer Week with a mini Ballard Brewery get together. We asked all the Ballard area breweries to bring their best beer, and invite them to stick around and talk to patrons. No better way to support the booming beer scene than drinking local, right? We will be offering flight trays with four samples of beer from each of them (price to be determined), so come stop by and check it out.

Thursday we invite you to come visit us for our Sam Adam’s beer night. We will have four beers from them on tap: India Pale Lager, Grumpy Monk Belgian IPA, Honey Queen Braggot (hybrid between beer and mead), and a Maple Pecan Porter. We will again be offering taster trays (again, price pending). If you were quick enough to RSVP, we will be having the Utopias tasting up front, where you will get to sample all the draft beers as well as Utopias and Angry Orchard Iceman. Please show up around 5:30, we will begin at 6:00pm.

Hello hopshopper! We hope you are ready for another action packed week. Here’s the rundown on what we have going on this week, and a little bit more on our beer week events.

Wendesday the 1st, we are hosting Reverend Nat’s Cider for a good cause cider tasting. You may have seen the new swingtop bottles in the cider section. They will be here Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 to raise money for the Program for Early Parenthood Support (PEPS for short), so stop on by, donate, and try out some cider!

All of our spots for the Sam Adam’s tasting event are full, but we do have a waiting list in case anyone drops.

Our rough draft list for our Imperial Stout event looks a little like this:

Great Divide – Belgian Yeti
Great Divide – Oak Aged Yeti
Great Divide – Chocolate Yeti
Great Divide – Espresso Yeti
Southern Tier – Oat
Lost Abbey – Serpent’s Stout
Oskar Blues – Tenfiddy

We are looking to add a few more, so the list might change between now and then.

Due to Beer Week, we will reschedule Trivia and Euchre night. Trivia will be pushed to the third Tuesday (16th) and Euchre likely to the week after (23rd)

Our food trucks this week are as follows:

Monday night – Now Make Me a Sandwich
Tuesday night – Curb Jumper
Friday night – Where Ya At Matt
Saturday afternoon – Grilled Cheese Experience
Saturday night – Fish Basket
Sunday afternoon – Seattle Biscuit Co
Sunday night – Curb Jumper

We are doing a bottle launch for Double Mountain. Yes, they’ve finally started bottling. Come check them out in their 500ml bottles of IPA, Kolsh, Vaporizer, and Hop Lava. We will be celebrating with a couple special beers on tap: White Rider Belgian Pale, and Carries Ladd Porter, joining their regular lineup Hop Lava and Kolsh.

Now on to beer week!

As you know, Seattle Beer Week kicks off Thursday, May 9th and runs through May 18th. We have a slew of fun activities to share with you.

Wednesday the 8th we are having a pre funk for the week devoted to Seattle brewers with an event focusing on the thriving Ballard area. We will have kegs from each of the brewers in Ballard, and will be offering $4 flights of them. We should have a few of the brewers there representing their beer as well, so stop on by and talk beer with the makers of your favorite local beer!

Thursday the 9th we will be hosting Boston Beer Company (Sam Adams). We will be featuring four beers from them on tap: India Pale Lager, Grumpy Monk Belgian IPA, Honey Queen Braggot (hybrid between beer and mead), and a Maple Pecan Porter. But wait, there’s more! The first 20 people to sign up will get to take part in a tasting. For $20, you will be able to try 4oz samples of all of the beers on tap, as well as a 1oz pour of the 2012 Utopias and a 4oz pour of their Angry Orchard Iceman cider. We look to hold the tasting around 6pm. Please email us at Chuckshopshop@gmail.com with your name and phone number, or ask for the sign up sheet the next time you are in the store. Space is limited, so don’t wait!

Monday the 13th at 4pm we will be hosting Steve Dresler of Sierra Nevada Brewing! Come stop by, check out some cool beers on tap, and have a talk with Sierra Nevada’s head brewmaster before he heads over to The Burgundian.

Tuesday the 14th we will be hosting Widmer for a beer and ice cream pairing. Widmer is working with Full Tilt to make four flavors specifically for pairings. Come try four beers with four scoops of ice cream for $6

Wednesday the 15th is our Imperial Stout tasting. We’ve been saving back kegs for a while now, and are ready to put them on all at once. $8 will get you four 3oz samples of some world class dark beer. This isn’t one to be missed.

Thursday the 16th we will be hosting Schmaltz brewing. Come meet the representative and try their Rejewvenator, Jewbelation Sweet 16, Lenny’s Rye IPA, and Messiah Brown ale for $6 a taster.

Phew, that was a mouth full. Hopefully we will see you soon!

For all those people coming in asking if we really had hops, soon we will be able to answer “yes”. Chuck hired someone to come in, set up, and plant a couple hop vines. If you’ve been sitting outside in our fenced off area, you may have noticed them already. I believe both plants are of the Cascade variety, and I’m not sure how long it will take to be able to harvest them, but we can now officially call ourselves the Hop Shop!

Tuesday the 16th is our monthly Euchre League meeting. There will be beer, fun, and prizes. Stop by at 6:30pm to join the festivities.

Our next tasting event is going to be next week, Wednesday the 24th. We will be hosting Snoqualmie Brewing, and raising money for Child’s Play. Snoqualmie has teamed up with a local honey farm to create a special ale. More info to come next week.

We have decided to open our doors at 10am on Sunday, as opposed to the old 11am opening. This began yesterday, but it felt like the general public did not know about it as we were very lonely. Come on down a bit early on Sunday mornings!

Our food trucks this week are as follows:

Monday evening: Now Make Me a Sandwich
Tuesday evening: Curb Jumper
Wednesday evening: Streetzeria
Thursday evening: Caravan Crepes
Friday morning: Evolution Revolution
Friday evening: Where Ya At Matt
Saturday morning: Box Nature Sushi
Saturday evening: Fish Basket
Sunday morning: Seattle Biscuit Co
Sunday evening: Jemil’s Big Easy

As you can see, Friday morning we have a new food truck joining the mix, and Saturday we have a truck filling in for Grilled Cheese Experience. Evolution Revolution is “American Street Food”. Corn dogs, bacon cheddar tater tots, rabbit quesadilla, and more fill out a pretty exotic and unique menu. Check them out Friday morning!

Are you guys as excited as I am for the first Mariner’s home game? I can’t wait. We’ve got a few cool events to share with you this week.

Tuesday, like every second Tuesday of the month, is Blockhead Trivia Night. Get your teams ready and your buzz on while you try to outwit fellow Chuck’s patrons for prizes and bragging rights. The fun kicks off at 7:30, but keep in mind the spaces fill out fast, so you might want to arrive early. Curb Jumper will be catering.

Here is a list of food trucks for the week, and we have gotten word that they might be subject to change, so take this with a grain of salt:

Monday night – Now Make Me a Sandwich
Tuesday night – Curb Jumper Street Eats
Wednesday night – Streetzeria
Thursday night – Caravan Crepes
Friday afternoon – Falafel Salam
Friday night – Where Ya At Matt
Saturday afternoon – Grilled Cheese Experience
Saturday evening – Fish Basket
Sunday afternoon – Seattle Biscuit Co
Sunday evening – Jemil’s Big Easy

Now that we have the week out of the way, here’s some fun stuff coming down the pipe in the future.

As you may already know, May 9th through 18th is Seattle Beer Week. We should have a couple breweries doing mini events in that time frame. We are also working out the details to do a Ballard Beer event as well. We would try to bring in some beer from every Ballard brewery (and boy are there a lot of them) and hopefully some of the brewers themselves if they can make it.

Then there is the stout tasting. This event is not one to be missed, we’ve been saving kegs back for close to nine months now. We will be featuring taster trays with four 4oz pours of the stouts we have up. We will have all four Yeti variants (oak, espresso, chocolate, and Belgian), and likely 10 other awesome stouts to choose from. This may be one of your last chances to try Southern Tier Oat and Belgian Yeti, word on the street is the breweries discontinued these beers.

Finally, Chuck is working diligently to open the new store. It is in his possession but there is still a lot of work to be done. The June 1st opening is going to be pushed back, and not sure what the time frame is. The good news is that he is looking into getting an Anniversary beer brewed. More news to come as details get hammered.

Hope to see all you Chuck-le heads soon!

Hello hop-shoppers, time for another weekly update!

Man, it was another busy weekend here. Sad to say, we only have two IPA left on tap, all our other kegs are gone. We won’t be able to re-stock until our shipment gets in Wednesday, sorry for the inconvenience.

Bad news comes in pairs, as it appears Green Flash will be following suit with Russian River, and pulling out distribution in our area. They are looking to open up markets in East Coast areas, so until they expand, they are pulling distro from Washington. Pretty lame if you ask me.

But the news isn’t all bad. We have managed to obtain a very experimental beer from Dogfish Head. This beer is worth its weight in gold…literally. This Belgian ale, named 24 Carrot, is brewed with Belgian yeast and noble hops has over 10oz of gold per barrel added to the boil. After that, it is aged with carrots for four months, and then bottle conditioned. Just in time for spring, only three kegs made it to Washington. 20 IBU and 12% abv, come get some for an amazing price of $8 a pint!

………………….

APRIL FOOLS! Hope no one is too upset with the news. Here’s what we actually have in store for you this week.

Wednesday we invite you to stop by for a tasting event with Odin brewing to raise money for the Plus One Foundation. The name ‘Plus One’ was inspired by the concept of having a significant positive influence on one person at a time that also causes a ‘ripple effect’ of positive effects on the people in that person’s life. The event kicks off at 6:00pm. Seeing as Odin brewing will be there, we have brought in Now Make Me a Sandwich to cater the event (Viking theme anyone?)

We will be having a new food truck Saturday morning. You may have seen them at Seahawk games. This truck features Cuban Barbeque, look for them Saturday around 11am.

Our food truck schedule this week is:

Monday evening – Streetzeria
Tuesday evening – Curb Jumper
Wednesday evening – Now Make Me a Sandwich
Thursday evening – Caravan Crepes
Friday morning – Falafel Salam
Friday evening – Where Ya At Matt
Saturday morning – Snout and Co
Saturday evening – Fish Basket
Sunday morning – Seattle Biscuit Co
Sunday evening – Jemil’s Big Easy

Hope to see you soon!
