This Week at Chuck’s, June 17th

Hello Hop Shoppers,

Tonight Chuck’s will be featured in Evening Magazine’s Battle of the Breweries on King 5. It’s a bracket contest that pits 16 Washington against each other. Tune in and vote for your favorite!

This Wednesday from 6:00-9:00pm we are hosting a bottle release party for Sierra Nevada and Boulevard’s first commercial collaboration. We will be pouring up flights of Sierra Nevada and Boulevard beers that will include a taste of Terra Incognita. Situated at opposite ends of the California Trail, pioneering breweries Sierra Nevada and Boulevard have embarked upon a journey into the unknown, to a land where adventures in brewing and flavor await. Terra Incognita is, fittingly, an earthy beer, celebrating the unique terroir of the two locations. Beginning with Sierra Nevada’s estate-grown pale malt, and combined with amber malt, wheat, and malted wheat, it is then assertively hopped with Bravo and Styrian Goldings, dry-hopped with East Kent Goldings, and finally barrel aged with Brettanomyces in Missouri oak.” The final flight price has yet to be determined.

After over a year of speculation Ballast Point is finally available in Washington. We currently have bottles of Big Eye IPA, Calico Copper Amber Ale, Ballast Point Pale Ale, Sea Monster Imperial Stout and Sculpin IPA. The Sculpin has been flying off the shelves!

Cheers,

Jordan

This Week at Chuck’s, May 27th

Howdy hop shoppers! June is just around the corner, and we’re hoping the weather can make a turn around. Hope to see you guys soon. This is what we have in store for the last week in May.

Wednesday May 29th, we are hosting a good cause charity tasting with Woodchuck Cider and Northwest Harvest. Northwest Harvest has been keeping hungry people fed for over 45 years now through networks of Food Banks, Meal Programs, and High Need Elementary Schools. We will be showcasing the wonderful ciders from our friends at Woodchuck in Vermont. We will have their Granny Smith, Summer, and Pink (which also helps to fight cancer) ciders on tap and available to sample for donations. Come on down and donate to a good cause.

As you know, parking is somewhat difficult in the area. We’d like to take the time to remind you of our prior post (the one right below this one) this week concerning neighborhood parking.  Essentially, our neighbors on the 86th Street and 8th Ave are getting fed up with not being able to find parking near their own home, and are considering asking the city to implement permit parking in the area. We know it is a bit further away, but please try to avoid parking in these areas. Ride your bike or a bus if you can, or park further South or West and walk a little bit longer. Another concern is litter and dog poop. Please clean up after your pet and yourself around our store, keep Greenwood clean!

Here is a list of Food Trucks for the week:

Monday Evening: Now Make Me a Sandwich
Tuesday Evening: Curb Jumper
Wednesday Evening: Streetzeria
Thursday Evening: Caravan Crepes
Friday Afternoon: Evolution Revolution
Friday Evening: Where Ya At Matt
Saturday Afternoon:  Grilled Cheese Experience
Saturday Evening: Fish Basket
Sunday Afternoon: Seattle Biscuit Co
Sunday Evening: Jemil’s Big Easy

Have a safe and Hoppy Memorial Day!

Another Public Service Announcement from Chuck’s

Thank you for all of your positive feedback on our post concerning kids and dogs in the shop, it’s greatly appreciated!  A few other issues have been brought to our attention by our neighbors concerning the increase in car and foot traffic in the area.  While having so much activity in the neighborhood has definitely helped to make it safer, it has also caused concern over parking and litter.

Residents of NW 86th street  east of 8th avenue are considering asking the city to implement permit-only parking due to the increase of customer parking on their block.  To alleviate this problem, we ask you, our customers, to please limit your use of 86th street for parking.  Try parking farther north, west of 8th avenue, or south of 85th street.  A small increase in your walking distance would make a big difference to our neighbors.   Also, please do not block driveways or alleys, even if you’re only parking for a few minutes!

Unfortunately, there is no way for us to add parking to our limited space and the only thing we can do is ask you to be more imaginative in your choice of parking spot.  Or, don’t drive at all – walk, bus, bicycle or whatever else floats your boat!

Another issue that has arisen is that of dog poop in the area.  Please clean up after your pets and refrain from leaving anything else behind during your trips to and from the shop.

Thank you again for your continued support and we’ll see you soon!

Creating a Safer and Happier Chuck’s

Hi folks,

Now that Chuck’s has become such a popular destination, it’s time we had a talk about your kids and dogs in the shop.  It has come to our attention that some of our customers have been made uncomfortable by the lack of control of both and we’d like to take this opportunity to lay out our shop policies.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are well-behaved and on a leash at all times.  Dogs that are barking in the shop will be asked to step outside.  Any dog not on a leash will be required to either be leashed or leave.  This is for  the safety of your dog, other dogs, our customers, and our staff.

Kids are always welcome in the shop, because after all, being a family place is what made Chuck’s what it is today.  But, unsupervised children can cause a stressful and uncomfortable situation for both our customers and our staff.  Children should be kept under the direct supervision of their parents at all times, both inside and outside the shop.  This is for their safety, as there is a lot of commotion and it can be very crowded at times.

Thank you for your cooperation with these policies and we hope to see you in the shop soon.

Happy Beer Week!
