Another Public Service Announcement from Chuck’s

Thank you for all of your positive feedback on our post concerning kids and dogs in the shop, it’s greatly appreciated!  A few other issues have been brought to our attention by our neighbors concerning the increase in car and foot traffic in the area.  While having so much activity in the neighborhood has definitely helped to make it safer, it has also caused concern over parking and litter.

Residents of NW 86th street  east of 8th avenue are considering asking the city to implement permit-only parking due to the increase of customer parking on their block.  To alleviate this problem, we ask you, our customers, to please limit your use of 86th street for parking.  Try parking farther north, west of 8th avenue, or south of 85th street.  A small increase in your walking distance would make a big difference to our neighbors.   Also, please do not block driveways or alleys, even if you’re only parking for a few minutes!

Unfortunately, there is no way for us to add parking to our limited space and the only thing we can do is ask you to be more imaginative in your choice of parking spot.  Or, don’t drive at all – walk, bus, bicycle or whatever else floats your boat!

Another issue that has arisen is that of dog poop in the area.  Please clean up after your pets and refrain from leaving anything else behind during your trips to and from the shop.

Thank you again for your continued support and we’ll see you soon!

As Seattle Beer Week comes to a close, we are busy preparing for another busy week here at the Hop Shop! Here is a rundown of what we have going on.

Creating a Safer and Happier Chuck’s

Hi folks,

Now that Chuck’s has become such a popular destination, it’s time we had a talk about your kids and dogs in the shop.  It has come to our attention that some of our customers have been made uncomfortable by the lack of control of both and we’d like to take this opportunity to lay out our shop policies.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are well-behaved and on a leash at all times.  Dogs that are barking in the shop will be asked to step outside.  Any dog not on a leash will be required to either be leashed or leave.  This is for  the safety of your dog, other dogs, our customers, and our staff.

Kids are always welcome in the shop, because after all, being a family place is what made Chuck’s what it is today.  But, unsupervised children can cause a stressful and uncomfortable situation for both our customers and our staff.  Children should be kept under the direct supervision of their parents at all times, both inside and outside the shop.  This is for their safety, as there is a lot of commotion and it can be very crowded at times.

Thank you for your cooperation with these policies and we hope to see you in the shop soon.

Happy Beer Week!

This Week at Chuck’s, May 6th

Seems like summer is here. Now is as good a time as any to make use of our outdoor seating. Come by and grab a pint!

Wednesday we will be warming up for Seattle Beer Week with a mini Ballard Brewery get together. We asked all the Ballard area breweries to bring their best beer, and invite them to stick around and talk to patrons. No better way to support the booming beer scene than drinking local, right? We will be offering flight trays with four samples of beer from each of them (price to be determined), so come stop by and check it out.

Thursday we invite you to come visit us for our Sam Adam’s beer night. We will have four beers from them on tap: India Pale Lager, Grumpy Monk Belgian IPA, Honey Queen Braggot (hybrid between beer and mead), and a Maple Pecan Porter. We will again be offering taster trays (again, price pending). If you were quick enough to RSVP, we will be having the Utopias tasting up front, where you will get to sample all the draft beers as well as Utopias and Angry Orchard Iceman. Please show up around 5:30, we will begin at 6:00pm.
